About us:

The CRDV is managed by an association called the "Union d'Associations Comité Commun Santé et Bien-Etre". This association manages medico-social, social institutions and services in the field of disability, continued care and rehabilitation institutions and services in the field of ageing. In all, the Union consists of 63 institutions and services, with 2300 employees, spread over 35 sites in 6 different regions of France. The CRDV is the oldest (1872) and one of the largest institutions of the Union, with 158 beds and 83 full-time equivalents or about 100 employees, where 35 different professions are represented.

The CRDV is authorized to receive 140 children and 18 adults :
- 63 beds and places in support services. More and more children sent to us have associated disabilities or have failed in their school career, a teaching team is dedicated to them

- 70 places in day services (SAFEP, SAAAIS) : we work in schools, homes and children in the centre, bringing children together in joint activities

- 18 adults for workstation assessment and training.

All our services are under state supervision and funded by health insurance.

One of our strengths is based on the education of early childhood for babies under 3 months whom we can be entrusted to advise and monitor for the long term. The service is called SAFEP. A full staff of 15 professionals is specially dedicated to them : their job is to maximize their visual skills, to live with a multisensory approach, to advise and support parents and ensure the link between them.

In a service called the Social and Vocational Rehabilitation Center (VRC, "CRP" in french), we offer 4 training cycles including 1 preparatory section. 3 degree courses are in the business tertiary sector. As all VRC, we offer psychological counselling, assistance by social workers and rehabilitation to adapt to their new environment.

A 4th degree program was launched in 2009 : spa practitioner. This is an innovative training for the CRDV. This practitioner is involved in the development of the face and body of his/her customers through appropriate relaxation and loosening techniques, reflexology, care of the neck, shoulders, chest, back, hands, legs and feet. This training lasts 42 weeks (excluding holidays) including 12 weeks in traineeship.

The CRDV created a regional low vision center in 2011, called "Auvergne Basse Vision" : a rehabilitation and continued care service especially for AMD (age-related macular degeneration) patients, but also glaucoma, retinopathy, etc... for elderly people. The goal is to help patients to maintain the autonomy, the independence, the daily activities by rehabilitation and to slow the onset of signs of dependence. This rehabilitation is executed by various professionals (low vision psychiatrists, psychologist, etc…), as for children's services. In 2013, about 120 patients came to the low vision center.
